VisionQuest Trailer Reveals James Spader's Ultron Returning to the MCU

Marvel used D23 to drop the first real trailer for its Disney+ series VisionQuest — and the biggest reveal is a returning villain: James Spader is back as Ultron, marking his first MCU appearance since 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Ultron is back — inside Vision’s mind

The trailer offers the first look at Spader reprising the role, with Ultron appearing in human form inside Vision’s mind. It’s a striking way to bring the character back, tying his return directly to Vision’s own story rather than a straightforward resurrection.

What VisionQuest is about

The series follows Paul Bettany’s White Vision on an existential quest to reclaim his lost memories and humanity after the events of WandaVision, while on the run with a mysterious teenager linked to his past. VisionQuest is billed as the final chapter in the trilogy that began with WandaVision and continued with Agatha All Along. It runs eight episodes, with Terry Matalas as showrunner.

A stacked cast

Alongside Paul Bettany (Vision) and James Spader (Ultron), the series features Todd Stashwick as Paladin, Ruaridh Mollica as Tommy Maximoff, T’Nia Miller as Jocasta, Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H., Orla Brady as F.R.I.D.A.Y., Henry Lewis as D.U.M.-E, Jonathan Sayer as U, and James D’Arcy returning as J.A.R.V.I.S.
