Marvel's Spider-Man 2 gets a surprise update with two free suits and a PSSR boost
Insomniac has rolled out a surprise update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 — patch v1.005.000, released July 28 — adding two new suits at no extra cost alongside a set of PS5 Pro visual upgrades.
Two free suits
The headliner is the “Fresh Start” suit, inspired by Peter Parker’s new look in the Spider-Man: Brand New Day film arriving in cinemas that same week. Joining it is a suit based on Spider-Man’s appearance in Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, the Sony-published fighting game, complete with a cel-shaded aesthetic. Both are free to all players.
Sharper on PS5 Pro
For PS5 Pro owners, the update adds Enhanced PSSR upscaling for cleaner image reconstruction, and introduces a new Power Saver mode on PS5 that scales back some performance or resolution to reduce the console’s energy draw.
Free post-launch content like this is exactly the kind of support that keeps a community locked in long after the credits roll — and with the Brand New Day movie tie-in, it’s a smart moment to pull lapsed players back into New York. If you shelved your save, now’s a great excuse to swing back in.
Which suit are you rocking first — Fresh Start or Marvel Tōkon?
