Daredevil: Born Again Confirmed to End With Season 3 on Disney+

By BOSS KG•September 22, 2026

Daredevil: Born Again is ending. As first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Season 3 will be the final chapter of the Disney+ revival series starring Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock. The third season finished filming roughly two months before the announcement and is now deep in post-production, with a 2027 premiere window targeted — though no specific date has been announced.

The Big Picture

The decision fits a clear pattern: Marvel is actively pulling back on the number of streaming series it develops. Disney+ recently reversed a Season 2 renewal for Wonder Man, and Born Again — despite being well-regarded by fans and critics — reportedly never became a major ratings hit for Marvel Television. In the current environment, that combination wasn’t enough to keep it going.

Complicating matters further, showrunner Dario Scardapane has exited the project. His contract was up and was not renewed, leaving it unclear who will shepherd the rest of post-production. Scardapane was central to the show’s identity as it exists today: during the 2023 writers’ and actors’ strikes, Marvel scrapped the original version developed by Matt Corman and Chris Ord and brought in Scardapane alongside directors and producers Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, reorienting the series toward the grittier tone that made the original Netflix Daredevil — cancelled back in 2018 — so beloved.

What to Expect

Season 3 has real dramatic weight to carry. Season 2 left things on a loaded setup: Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) is mayor of New York and hunting Daredevil, a storyline that demands a payoff. Whether the final season sticks the landing now depends on a post-production stretch navigating a leadership vacuum.

Beyond the show itself, there is no confirmed MCU future for either Charlie Cox or Vincent D’Onofrio after Born Again wraps. Any big-screen appearances remain fan speculation, not announced plans. Marvel Television still has projects in development — among them a spy thriller reportedly codenamed “Zodiac” — but for the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, at least in this chapter, the curtain is coming down.
